Bill payment basics

What’s the difference between manual bill payment and automatic bill payment?

With manual bill payment, you view your bills first and authorize each individual Visa transaction. To pay a bill, you contact your biller (by phone or through their website) to authorize each transaction. Select manual bill payment if you need to see the bill before making payments. With automatic bill payment, Visa takes care of all the details for you. Once you sign up for automatic bill payment and schedule payments, your regular bills get paid automatically on the schedule you specify, allowing you to simply review the payments on your Visa statement. Select automatic bill payment if you want to make payments automatically on specific dates. Whichever payment method you choose, paying bills with Visa provides all the convenience, rewards, and protection you expect from Visa—including the benefits of Visa's Zero Liability protection, rewards programs and more.
